Monty’s School of Electronic Registration

If you are having problem entering your code, you've come to the right place. Here you will find a step-by-step guide on how to register your software. Over the years, Freeverse has used a few different code schemes. The first step in registering is determining which type of code you have, which is very easy. If your code is about 18 characters long (not counting dashes or spaces), you have a new code. New codes work with the latest versions of our products. A few products, such as X-Words, have used both schemes. If you think you have an old version and a new code, download the latest version from our site.

Depending on what type of computer you have the pictures might look a little different, but no matter what computer you have the buttons are all in the same spot and work the same way. If you've just ordered you should get an email that looks something like this:

If it's been a month or more since you've used this code, it is best to get a brand new code via our code retrieval system. In the email, you will see section that looks like this:

It is recommended that you leave this email open for a later step.

If you are using Windows, start the game you wish to register by using the "Start Menu" or other Shortcut. If you are using Mac OS, go to the folder, which has the game in it, and double click the game icon.

When the program loads, it will open a window that looks like this:

If you do not see a similar window, then you probably have an old version of the game and should update to the latest version available from our download page. The next step is to open the enter code box; this is done by clicking the "Enter Code..." button. You should see another window appear which looks like this:

If the name that appears in the top box is NOT the name that you registered the game under, you must change it. The name in the name line must be EXACTLY the name that is in the code email. The name in my code email was Steven Cento, so this is correct. Next, I have to enter the code into the appropriate box. If you still have the email open, you can simply copy and paste the code directly into the code box.

After entering your code, double-check it for typos. Don't worry if your code doesn't look exactly like the one above - all codes are personalized and vary from game to game. However, they should all be about 18 characters, not counting dashes. Click "Register". If it works you should see Jen pop-up and thank you for buying our software

Ut-Oh! Didn't work? Let me try to help out. I'll tell you about some of the most common mistakes people make when trying to register.

  1. It says my code is too short?

Monty says: You have an old code. It isn't compatible with this version of the game. You can continue to use the old version with this code. If you want to upgrade, please consult our upgrade policy for details.

  2. It says my name does not match?

Monty says: The code we sent you is linked to your name. If the name you entered is exactly how it appears in the email and you still get this message then chances are there is a extra space or two at the end of your name.

  3. It says my code is expired?

Monty says: The code you have is old and has expired. This does not mean you need to buy the game again; it simply means you have to get a new code from the code retrieval system.

  4. It says my code is invalid?

Monty says: First, check for typos in your code. The other possibility is that you are entering a code for another game, so make sure you're running the correct game. If you continue to have problems, contact Freeverse Tech Support.
